Pastor Butch Cousins

Presley (Butch) Cousins:  I was born in Tallassee, Alabama in 1950 and became a believer in Jesus Christ in 1964 in Montgomery, Alabama.  However, after nearly two years in Viet Nam, I became disillusioned and wandered far from God.  But God did not wander from me.  One night as I sat feeling like all hope was gone I cried out to God and He answered.  He gave me back everything I had thrown away even my childhood sweetheart who has now been my wife for 31 years. Through the ministries of Kendrick and Central Baptist churches where I served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and a children's minister, my relationship with God grew stronger. Through the ministries of Promise Keepers and Living Waters Walk to Emmaus, my faith overcame the guilt and shame and baggage of my past until I (while serving as youth director at Lime Springs UMC in Clanton, AL) surrendered to God's call on my life.  I accepted my first Church/Charge in the United Methodist Church in 2007 where I served the Plantersville/Pleasant Valley Charge for seven years.  In July of 2014, I became the Pastor of Fitzpatrick United Methodist Church.  I know where God brought me from and I am convinced that no matter what you have done or how far you have strayed, He can and will save you if you call on Him.  Jesus died on that cross for all of us; not just some of us.  He wants everyone to have eternal life through Him.
